Make Vern & Dern your home page


You can make Vern & Dern the first site that you visit every time you go onto the Internet.

How you do this depends on what browser you are using. To find out more about your browser, select "About..." from the Help menu.

Opera 5.0

  • Click on Navigation menu item
  • Set Home page
  • Follow instructions to set further options in the dialog box

Internet Explorer 5.0

  • Open the Vern & Dern home page (www.vern-dern.com)
  • Click on the Tools menu and select "Internet Options"
  • On the "General" tab, in the Home Page area (at the top), click on "Use Current"
  • Click "Apply", then click "OK" (at the bottom)

Internet Explorer 4.0

The same as IE 5.0, except that you access "Internet Options" via the View menu (instead of via Tools).

Internet Explorer 3.0

Similar to IE 4.0 and 5.0, except that you choose "Options" (instead of Internet Options) from the View menu, then click on the "Start and search pages" or the "Navigation" tab, and make sure that the box under "Home Page" reads "Address".

America Online (AOL)

  • Copy the following text (known as a URL) onto your clipboard: http://www.vern-dern.com/
    (you can do this by selecting it, then pressing "Control" and "c" on your keyboard).
  • Choose "Preferences" from the Members menu
  • Click on the "WWW" button
  • Click in the "Home page" box at the bottom of the window
  • Press "Control" and "v" to paste the URL into the box (or just type it in)
  • Click "OK"

Netscape 6.0 and 4.0

  • From the Edit menu, choose "Preferences"
  • Select "Navigator" from the list on the left
  • In the "Navigator starts with" area (near the top), make sure that the "Home page" option is off (has no black dot in it)
  • In the "Home Page" area (in the middle), type in (or paste) http://www.vern-dern.com/
  • Click "OK"

Netscape 3.0

  • From the Options menu, choose "General Preferences"
  • Click on the "Appearance" tab
  • In the "Startup" area, make sure that the "Home page location" option is off (has no black dot in it)
  • In the white box underneath, type in (or paste) http://www.vern-dern.com/
  • Click "OK"

Netscape 2.0

The same as Netscape 3.0, except that after you've finished you need to choose "Save options" from the Options menu.
